There are thousands of interesting things to see in the Monterey Bay Aquarium (the aquarium of my childhood) but I've always been most enamoured by the tank of anchovies. For a humble fish they're very beautiful, all glinty in the light. They move in graceful unison—save for the occasional dolt swimming backwards.
